Following its participation in the Lisbon Book Fair, in partnership with the Urucum publishers, Perve Galeria presents the exhibition OBJECT, with three exhibition sections, which will open simultaneously on September 6th, in Lisbon.
Curated by Carlos Cabral Nunes, OBJECT. is based on Ayn Rand’s philosophical theory, the objectivism, and the concepts intrinsic to it, which gives name to the 3 exhibition sections. Like the book, the central object of this exhibition, these concepts also share a philosophical and poetic heritage that goes back to the first half of the 20th century. It’s precisely through these two dimensions that the artistic object-book should be considered, and to which, we add a third dimension, the plastic.
The opening starts at 5 p.m. at Atmosfera m Lisbon, with the exhibition section OBJECTivism, following to Alfama, where the two exhibition poles will open at 6.30 p.m.: OBJECTualism at Casa da Liberdade - Mário Cesariny and 27 ARTe, and OBJECTivist at Perve Galeria.
OBJECTivism, patent at the space Atmosfera m Lisbon, through a selection of artistic object-books, by Alberto Pimenta, Cruzeiro Seixas, Cabrita Reis, Joana Vasconcelos, among other authors, relates notions such as consciousness and human identity, the principle of causality, and the poem as a tangible object, and the creation of an artwork.
OBJECTualism, departs from the concept marked by the interrogation of optical perception, presenting graphic artworks and artistic books as art objects in a limited edition, signed and numbered by the authors and publisher, and accompanied by a set of serigraphs and art objects. This section is divided between two spaces in Alfama, a historic centre of Lisbon, the Casa da Liberdade - Mário Cesariny and the 27 ARTe space.
Finally, OBJECTivist, held at the Perve Galeria, recovers the concept of objectivism, focusing precisely on the one who makes it. It is in the transposition to a century of image production, in which the object is explored as a multiple of art, calling into question the replicability of the artwork.
