A tío Arturo Cruzeiro Seixas por su centenário

EN| The internationalisation of the Portuguese surrealist Cruzeiro Seixas begins in Cuenca, Spain, with his first international solo exhibition. "Menú - Cuadernos de Poesía" is an exhibition dedicated to Cruzeiro Seixas, open from September 24 to November 21, 2021. The exhibition takes place on the occasion of the Celebration Cycle of the artist's 100th years and presents works integrated in the MENÚ collection.

This exhibition shows the collaborations between the poet from Cuenca Juan Carlos Valera and Cruzeiro Seixas throughout their more than three decades of relationship. The exhibition includes more than one hundred paintings by the Portuguese author, from different periods, collages, manuscripts, magazines and catalogues. It also includes numerous bibliophile editions of Menú, in which Cruzeiro Seixas collaborated with some of the most representative surrealists of the last third of the twentieth century, such as Eugenio Granell, Pierre Alechinsky, Edouard Jaguer and Jules Perahim, among others, and a selection of over fifty illustrated letters, some of which are authentic works of art, from the profuse correspondence exchanged between Cruzeiro Seixas and Juan Carlos Valera.

The inauguration of the exhibition, in the ACUA Hall in Cuenca, counts with the presentation of an extraordinary panel of speakers, formed by Carlos Cabral Nunes, Art Director of Perve Galeria, in Lisbon, Tomás Paredes, President of the Spanish Association of Art Critics (AECA), and Juan Manuel Bonet, art critic, ex-director of the Reina Sofia Art Centre, in Madrid.

This exhibition allows to approach and to know the work of one of the most important contemporary surrealists, little known at international level, who had a special relationship and a deep affection for Cuenca through his friend Juan Carlos Valera.

The international tribute to Cruzeiro Seixas will continue until January 2022 through Perve Galeria's participation in the art fairs Frieze Masters and London Art Fair, in England, and FigBilbao, in Spain.
