Freedom House - Mário Cesariny

A cultural space dedicated to the legacy and work of the Surrealist poet and artist Mário Cesariny (1923–2006), one of the leading figures of Portuguese Surrealism.

About Us

The House of Freedom – Mário Cesariny is a cultural space dedicated to the preservation, research and dissemination of the work, thought and legacy of Mário Cesariny, one of the most important figures of Portuguese surrealism.

Located in the artist's former residence in Lisbon, Casa da Liberdade promotes an ongoing program of exhibitions, cultural activities, research, and publishing, contributing to the study of his work and to dialogue with modern and contemporary art. In parallel, it hosts projects dedicated to other artists and movements that share the values of creative freedom, experimentation, and critical thinking that marked Mário Cesariny's career.

More than just a museum space, Casa da Liberdade establishes itself as a vibrant center for creation, knowledge, and encounter, preserving the memory of one of the greatest Portuguese artists of the 20th century and promoting reflection on his legacy within the contemporary artistic and cultural context.

Introduction
